Aleksandra understands that life – and any worthwhile career – is a marathon. As such, she is not concerned that her current position doesn’t pay a salary commensurate with her efforts or the responsibilities she shoulders in it. She is using the job just as surely as the Corporation she is employed by is using her. In all the time she has been there, she has been making contacts and spreading positive energy, always paying it forward. She will take the experience gained in the role, along with the kudos and accolades she has collected while working in it, and capitalize on both when the time is right.
It will all be leveraged when it is best used as such, either with her current employers or their competitors, as that is how the game is played. All win in the end, as either her current employer or another will have a seasoned, proven asset on a higher corporate ladder rung, with the asset being compensated accordingly and appropriately. Having said that, she may even decide to create her own company.
She has learned to not do what many others do; staying – some may say stagnating – in a comfortable role and never growing. She sees them carrying out their tasks – without interest or passion – which, in her mind, surely makes the workdays impossibly long, and is determined to avoid that fate. When asked what else drives her, she says that she wants to prove that women born and educated in eastern Europe are very much up to the challenge of not just being employed in the male-dominated finance industry of the West, but in excelling in that domain.
Alexandra is another great example of someone who, despite not being a “one-percenter”, is living a successful, fun-filled and fulfilling life. She makes ongoing good decisions relating to education, working smart, and, for good measure, diet, health, fitness and general well-being. She has a plan that will see her continuing these good habits and enjoying those things that she loves, such as visiting the nearby Royal Ontario Museum, Art Gallery of Ontario and the Lillian H. Smith Library with her daughter to help her understand the world through history, art and literature. She also takes her side-kick to far-flung locales throughout Europe, the Caribbean and South America, so she can also see the world and her mother’s homeland first hand and up close.
Alex is quite philosophical about where she is today and how she arrived, adding that she feels we all are somewhat predetermined as to how our lives will turn out. Along with her willingness to work hard and smart, she credits “staying on the bright side of the street” while also constantly positioning herself in situations – whether they are via places or people – where opportunities may be found.
She enjoys reading the written works of Robert Green and Jordan Peterson, and quotes passages from them often, such as those that relate to “like attracts like” laws and does her best to abide by them. She feels that the more she surrounds herself with those seeking achievement, the more their positive habits and energy will aid in her own quest for attaining that which she wishes to accomplish in life.
Another aspect of her that eventually comes through loud and clear when in conversation with this spirited individual, is her love of equestrian sports. She has truly put her hard-earned money where her mouth is, as she supports an equally-spirited horse, coincidently named James, boarding him in a stable. She visits him when she and her daughter can for riding and grooming sessions, activities all three thoroughly enjoy.
Throughout these day trips, vacations and time spent with their steed, and along with family and close friend celebrations marking milestones and other important events she is “making more memories” as much a part of her legacy to her daughter as making (more) money ever could. She claims that for her, the best part of “making more monie” is that it buys independence; the freedom to travel and, if and when the craving occurs, meaningful indulgences that bring her satisfaction and radość, a bargain at any price.
