In my previous post, Sorry, But Not Impressed, I took aim at a quote that, like many, initially sounded deep and profound, but when examined below the surface, turned out to be just so many words. It struck me that if these so-called words of wisdom were replaced with actual advice that represented years of tried and true, well, truisms, and fortified with solid information, those that need it would be a lot better off.
Unfortunately, such counsel doesn’t sound inspiring. It doesn’t contain words like “achievement”, “ambition”, “destiny” or “determination” or the classics, passion” and “perseverance”, nor does it conjure up images of deep canyons and towering mountains. What it does, though, is relay solid intel, providing real action steps that can be taken in real time on one’s own, to their immediate benefit. For example:
Making a week’s worth of wholesome macronutrients, primarily high quality proteins, carbs and fats, is a great way to ensure efficiency in our daily routines. This gives us valuable time to focus on “making more monie”, and facilitates the good health that allows us to enjoy it!
A bodyweight-focused push/pull, upper/lower body split strength training routine incorporating cardio provides for six efficient workouts a week and higher overall health and energy levels. It also provides for a rest day off, which is perfect for concentrating all that energy on “making more monie”!
Alternatively, a cycling, running, skipping rope or scaling stairwells-focused cardio routine incorporating strength training provides for six efficient workouts a week and higher overall health and energy levels. It also provides for a rest day, which is perfect for concentrating all that energy on “making more monie”!
Having a good sleep schedule provides a strong base from which to plan fitness and all our other activities around. Not only does it enable our bodies to self-repair, it improves memory, our ability to make decisions and to stay alert and engaged. Everything we need in our efforts to “make more monie”!
There’s no substitute for hard, disciplined and effective work, so instead of avoiding it and putting off ‘til tomorrow what can be done today, try embracing it instead. By doing more today, you will build on what’s possible for tomorrow, such as “making more monie”!
Bookending our days and weeks maximizes them, allowing for familiar transitions between the days’ stages, which is good, but which has become linked more to mindfulness than efficiency. Forget being mindful about it and let the routine become ingrained, so you can focus on “making more monie” instead!
Speaking of bookends, which corral our books, rather than buying something that is simply a vessel of information that once read, simply takes up space, “make more monie” by becoming a member of the local public library – for free – and gain access to all books out there, downloaded onto your device.
So, in real time, while crafting this post, I came up with these quick tips, or “q-tips” if you will, that are proven to be effective. I can say this with certainty as I’ve been incorporating similar recommendations and processes into my own life’s days and nights for years. They are clear and direct, useful and helpful, and easy to incorporate into daily, weekly, monthly and annual routines.
What they aren’t, is vague, pseudo-profound nonsense, ginned up with flowery, formulated wording suitable for monetizing due to its shareability amongst all those that lap it up, like so much snake oil.
The next time you find one of these so-called sagacious selections, remember that behind it is almost assuredly a wordsmith that has been well paid to carefully craft it, along with dozens more in the highly lucrative inspirational quote industry that has monetized the consumption of words. In fact, after considering this “word world war” being waged against you for your money, it’s also been weaponized!
