Early on, I went through occasional periods of doubt as to whether or not Make More Monie was a worthy endeavor. In response, I reminded myself that I was doing it for all who never get to see real examples of those that are “making more monie”, and/or in so many different ways. Now that I’ve seen the difference I can make with this movement, I feel even more compelled to highlight those contributing to the world in positive ways, having fun while doing it, and having even more fun with the rewards of their successes.
I also couldn’t help but juxtapose the above with the gauche and excessive displays of wealth in the surreal world of social media by the nouveau riche of today; the celebrities (including those that are famous simply for being so), the sports and entertainment stars and those that are making millions as professional speakers. In addition, we have multi-level/affiliate marketing and accused/suspected sex/human trafficking Andrew “Top G(rifter)” Tate, fact-free philosopher and walking, talking, psychological trainwreck Jordan “Waterworks” (or is it “Word Salad”?) Peterson, wantrepreneur favorite Gary “Remember kids, ‘F’ is for ‘F*ck’” Vaynerchuk, or those megachurch pastorpreneurs such as Paula White and Joel Osteen – or their far-right, anti-Semite, conspiracy theorist and self-destructive soul brother Kanye (Con-Ye) West – and all their tax exempt mega-mansions built with the multi-millions they rake in.
I also thought that since I’m not famous – nor have aspirations of being so – and never wanted to be one of those slick – some would say slimy – inspirational, aspirational, pseudo-psychological, personal or professional behavioral agents, I would try a different, completely straightforward, transparent approach.
Rather than operating in the shadows, selling snake oil using smoke and mirrors, I would straightforwardly and simply explain that the power of suggestion secrets that all of the gurus to the gullible traffic in, is none other than pure and positive self-talk that anyone can generate, and quite easily, I might add.
Make More Monie’s message is also coming from an entirely different perspective, one pretty much the opposite of that from which all of the First World professional speakers come; one of spectacular failure.
I don’t have impressive credentials or extraordinary experiences; I don’t have an incredible, harrowing life story of overcoming all-but-insurmountable odds, or, in fact, much of a remarkable life story at all. I’m not famous for coining inspirational quotes, nor am I famous for my achievements like Captain Mark “Endeavor to Succeed” Kelly or Colonel Chris “Aim to be a Zero” Hadfield. I have no tale of some horrific situation I got myself out of like Aron “127 Hours” Ralston and no physical life-long malady to overcome like Nicholas “No Arms, No Legs, No Worries” Vujicic.
Now, at this point in this post, anyone reading it may likely be wondering, why, if the author of these posts brings no fame, fortune or even infamy or notoriety to the fore, should they bother reading any of them or heeding the words? I submit that who else but someone like me, someone that had all of the benefits of growing up middle class in Canada during a time when it was almost impossible not to “make more monie” – yet didn’t make any by failing spectacularly – can fully understand what it’s like to be in the position many of my mentees find themselves? In other words, who but me can authentically share what it’s like not to be admired or respected? To not be spoken or listened to? To not be written about, photographed or newsworthy, or to not be sought out, or even missed, for that matter?
I think that if and when considering exactly what it is I’m trying to do from this particular perspective, you may just have your reason!
